The Reviews Are In!
This is my favorite place to get breakfast in Portland. Never mind that the owners are terribly friendly and I absolutely adore them... but they have killer hash browns. And who the hell doesn't like hash browns?
Old burger joint still hip
It's because of places like these that I don't like most milkshakes in town. You can get the best thick shake in the city here -- the kind that you can't down without a spoon, and it's so good that you end up spooning and gulping at the same time. They also serve some of the best burgers here. Nothing fancy, just good, juicy meat with a variety of creative toppings.
You'll feel like you're sitting in an old-fashioned diner, not only because it has the same decor as it did some 30 years ago, but the wait staff is so friendly, as if you've been coming in everyday for years. This is one of the best comfort food spots around.
Tip: The chicken patty melt is almost as good as the burgers.
If you want a friendly atmosphere and delicious breakfasts or lunches, then this is the place. If you sit at the counter, everyone visits with each other like they've been friends for years. It's just a great place and the owners Craig & Inca are the best!!!
A great little neighborhood spot that serves some excellent burgers. Don't expected fancy innovations, it's just good old fashioned burgers. The restaurant looks like it hasn't changed decor in around 30 years. This is exactly the kind of place I love. Good people, good food, no frills atmosphere. Don't pay attention to the negative reviews, those guys need to get a life. The reviewer who suggested the restaurant was too close to the bus stop is absurd. It's a burger joint not a five star.
The food is great, the waitresses and waiters are very friendly and very accomodating. Try their shakes, they are the best ever. While you are there, you must have a chicken patty melt. YUMMY!
Walking through the door is a return to my childhood. The smell of the food cooking, the straws on the counter, and the stools that spin around. The burgers are awesome, and the delicious shakes add inches to the hips, just smelling them. The calories are well worth it though. Where else can you get a fresh ice cream shake in that old fashioned glass that brings back the sweet memories of your childhood?
