We are moving forward.
Paragon Tax Services has been in business over 20 years. We have built up a loyal clientele providing important tax and accounting services. Looking forward to the years ahead, I have contemplated how best to continue to provide to you and all our clients those services. As President of Paragon Tax Services, I realize that I cannot continue working overseeing the firm in perpetuity. I am not ready to retire any time soon. But, as I advise, long-term planning makes sense.
Just a block or so away from our office, I noticed the development of WWC Business Solutions, Inc. I noticed that the array of services offered by WWC are very similar to those offered by Paragon, and that WWC offers additional financial services as well. I met with the two principals of WWC, Mike Wallis, CPA, and Suzanne Corliss, a licensed Investment Advisor. I realized that not only were the two firms similar in services, but similar in commitment to being a model of excellence, a Paragon. More discussion followed.
We agreed that combining the firms would provide you with an enhanced range of uninterrupted professional services for many years to come. We agreed that the best method was that WWC Business Solutions, Inc. would acquire the practice of Paragon Tax Services and its clientele. All the staff of Paragon will join WWC and we will move to the WWC office located at 1024 Marine Drive in Astoria during December.
Though, our firms are similar, there will be some procedural differences. For example, WWC does not pre-schedule for income tax appointments as Paragon has done. Rather, they encourage clientele to complete their tax organizer and include all the necessary documents and drop those by the office when completed. Those clientele needing an appointment to discuss a special situation or transaction are encouraged to call to schedule an appointment. In the coming weeks, as we get ready for tax season, your 2009 tax organizers and information will be mailed to you explaining the WWC procedures for tax preparation and for other services.
What about fees? Paragon Tax Services has used a flat fee method for most engagements, while WWC uses the hourly rate method. With the hourly rate method there can be variance year by year. On the whole, the two firms fees for services are close to the same with the exception for those of you that have had a tax preparation rate less than $180, you will likely see a small increase as WWC brings our rates in line with theirs.
Contact me if you have questions. Our phone number will be retained and will begin forwarding to WWC in the coming weeks.
Read the enclosed letter from WWC to be more fully introduced, and feel free to contact Mike and Suzanne anytime. Please come to the open house we are planning in January at the offices of WWC.
We plan to make the change seamless for you as we move forward.
