Oregon School for the Deaf - Phase I
Studio 3 Architecture was retained to assist in the design and development of the new Boy's Dormitory for the Oregon School for the Deaf. The project coined as Phase I consists of 8 beds and a common area that includes study areas, living, games, office and a kitchen. The project was designed to easily allow future additions up to 48 beds total. The project will be featured on ABC's Extreme Makeover program October 31, 2010 (7/8 Central). Built in a week, the project has been submitted for LEED Gold and features many sustainable features. An eco-roof covers a portion of the roof and solar panels provide up to 30% of the buildings electrical needs. Sustainable and recycled materials were used throughout the building, including reclaimed wood, cork flooring, and furniture built by volunteers. More information on the build can be found at the builders Rich Duncan Construction's website www.project807.com
