(Milwaukie, November 2010.) Portland Classic Guitar (PCG) is pleased to announce a change of venue for its acclaimed concert series, effective immediately. The new location, St. Annes Chapel, is a wonderful and inviting performance space located on the campus of beautiful Marylhurst University, in Marylhurst, Oregon. Beginning with the Jason Vieaux concert scheduled for November 19, PCG concerts that were originally scheduled for the Portland Classic Guitar Studio in Milwaukie will now be in this new space. (Start times and all other details remain the same.) The only concert that is not affected by this change is the Angel Romero concert on January 21, 2011 (at the Rolling Hills Community Church in Tualatin, as advertised).
Also, the David Franzen solo concert on December 3, 2010, The William Kanengiser concert on April 2nd, 2011 and the Rafeal Aguirre Concert on July 8th, 2011 are now at the First Congregational Church in downtown Portland. All Master classes and student recitals will continue to be held at PCGs Milwaukie location.
The venue change has been necessitated by the extraordinary growth that the PCG series has seen over the past few years. St. Annes is a bright and welcoming space, slightly bigger than PCG (it seats roughly three times as many people), while still preserving the excellent acoustics and a sense of proximity to the performer that is so crucial for classical guitar music. The Marylhurst campus has recently been refurbished and is easily accessible, with a dedicated (and free) parking lot. The surrounding environment is peaceful and serene; the perfect context for the sort of artistic excellence that has become associated with the PCG name.
The Milwaukie PCG location will continue to serve the Milwaukie community (and beyond), remaining a fully-functioning teaching studio, a venue for student recitals (as well as a potential venue for new concert series, currently in the planning stages), a space for the master classes that are such a crucial part of the PCG concert experience, and a high-end guitar shop.
