Throughout thissite, you will see a lot of discussion about attachment, it's origins, and the effects that early experiences have upon our lives, world view, ability to have healthy relationships, and confidence. When reviewing the information in this site, please note that Attachment is a philosophical base for the work done at the Attachment Center. This does not mean that the only clientele that are seen have "attachment problems", but that early experiences and patterns inform therapy.
Lynne's work is informed by Attachment Theory as it applies to child development and the necessity of nurturing and supportive relationships throughout life and into adulthood.
In the first years of life,we learn that the world and relationships can be safe. This is whena childbegins to learn who they are and how they fit into the world. Sometimes, however, circumstances don't allow this child to be nurtured or cared for in a way that provides the security and support necessary in order to be able to feel safe. They have difficulty with attaching to others, with trusting that they will be cared for and that they are worthy of being cared for.
Patterns are created early in life, and a person may continue to struggle and fear closeness in later relationships.
EMDREye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a mode of treatment in which Lynne is trainedthat allows clients to reprocess trauma andnegative life experiences. As the emotional impact of past events begins to resolve, a client is more able to be present and connect. Negative belief systems are changed, replaced with insight and more adaptive functioning.
