This is Boedecker Cellars' second label. Co wine-makers, owners and husband and wife team Stewart Boedecker and Athena Pappas are among the hottest rising stars in the Oregon wine scene. Not only are their wines delicious and impeccably crafted, they are getting monster scores, time after time. This is the time to get in on the bottom floor while the wines are a ridiculous value!
Maybe in a few years we'll be telling people that we were drinking Boedecker and Pappas before they became super-stars and the wines went for three figures. (Let's hope that won't happen.) Also, check out the Boedecker Stewart and Athena Cuvees!.
Syrah - Rogue Valley 2007
Winemaker / owner Remy Drabkin is most well known for this lovely, feminine and seductive Syrah from Rogue Valley fruit, but is becoming increasingly well known for her Italian varietals, such as Sangiovese and even the rare Lagrein as well as her inexpensive second label: Three Wives.
A tribute to the late Gary Andrus, founder of Pine Ridge, Archery Summit and Gypsy Dancer. Roughly 85% Archery Summit fruit at a small fraction of the price of Archery Summit. And last not least: Delicious!
What do Pine Ridge, Archery Summit and Gypsy Dancer have in common? Gary Andrus, who founded all of them and who passed away last year, way too young at age 63. So now we have this Pinot called Forefront by Pine Ridge. But it's all Willamette Valley and it is meant as a tribute to Gary's legacy. A little bird chirped in our ear and told us that this is supposedly 85% Archery Summit fruit. Yes, as in the $100+ Oregon royalty. But this wine is less than twenty bucks. Except, it doesn't taste like a $20 wine. This is a seductive wine that is both powerful and pretty at the same time. With ample structure, but shy of a California Candy Bomb and distinctly Oregon. This may be the steal of the year...
The Boss Pinot Pack.
Few people in the world get to try more Oregon Pinot Noirs than our boss, Boris Wiedenfeld. He is constantly out at the wineries, in the vineyards and at tastings. (What a hard life!) And as the store with Oregon's largest wine selection, as well as the world's largest selection of Oregon wines, the reps and producers bring the rest in for us to try.
So, if you're not sure what to get or want to try something new, let Boris pick out a case for you. There are three price-points, from $325.- to $650.
Oregon Pinot Noir - Sub $20.- sampler case.
