Full Bloom Midwifery is the homebirth service of Portland Oregon midwife, Kelli McIntosh, LDM, CPM.
I attended Birthingway College of Midwifery and am a Licensed Certified Professional Midwife practicing according to the Midwifery Model of Care, which states:
Healthy mothers and babies should remain together immediately after birth.
As a Midwife in Portland Oregon, I provide continuous support to women during their pregnancy and labor. Communication is emphasized, and I focus on working with the mother to reduce the risk for complications during childbirth. I also focus on the needs of the family, and I encourage family participation in the birth. I pay special attention to the cultural values and personal preferences of the women in my care.
I want my clients to be active participants in their own health care and birth experience. Because birth is so personal I strive to offer you and your family high quality, personalized care based on your own needs and desires.
I live in Milwaukie, Oregon and attend birthing families in the greater Portland Metropolitan area within an hour drive of my home. I practice with other midwives in the area and utilize their skills and expertise to assist me. You will have an opportunity to meet the other midwife early in your care to make sure that you feel comfortable with her. I also may ask if you are willing to have an apprentice midwife involved in your care. I believe that apprenticeship is the best and only way for students to learn about homebirth and becoming a midwife. My own apprenticeships were the most valuable parts of my education.
