Andrew Lewinter is a Eugene, Oregon labor and employment attorney representing labor unions and individual employees. Andrew has represented public and private sector labor unions in a wide spectrum of fields, including musicians, film technicians, teachers, and public works employees. Andrew's work with individual employees focuses on employment discrimination litigation in state and federal courts and before state administrative agencies, such as the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI).
Andrew Lewinter graduated cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law, where he also served as Lead Articles Editor of the Georgia State Law Review. There, he wrote and had published a law review article about the rights of undocumented workers after the United States Supreme Court's decision in Hoffman Plastic Compounds, Inc. v. NLRB.1 Following law school, he was Counsel for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in Washington, D.C., where he helped draft NLRB decisions and guide labor law and policy.
Andrew was a symphony musician for fourteen years prior to becoming an employment attorney and labor attorney. During that time, he actively participated in collective bargaining and representation of employees as chairman of the musicians' representative committee. This experience nurtured a strong belief in unionism and the rights of employees, and eventually inspired him to become a labor and employment attorney.
Andrew represents employee victims of employment discrimination and retaliation, including race discrimination, national origin discrimination, religious discrimination, age discrimination, sex discrimination, sexual orientation discrimination, sexual harassment, disability discrimination, FMLA and OFLA discrimination, whistleblowing claims, and retaliation for having used workers' compensation benefits. Andrew also helps employees who have not been paid the required minimum wage or overtime and employees who have not been paid promptly upon termination. Andrew speaks Spanish, and represents employees who do not speak English.
Andrew is licensed in Oregon and New Mexico, and on inactive status in Maryland. He is admitted to practice in all Oregon courts and the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. He is a member of the Lane County Bar Association, the AFL-CIO Lawyers' Coordinating Committee and the National Employment Lawyers Association. Andrew is also Of Counsel to the Wilson Law Office.
