A master craftsman in Violin Making, Restoration and Repair, John Hill uses traditional old world methods inspired by the worlds greatest 17th and 18th century masters from Cremona, as well as other violin making centers in Italy. Taught by internationally acclaimed, award winning Violin Maker John Harrison, John Hill has also refined his art by his own careful study of the diverse and varying elements that interplay in a beautifully sounding instrument. As a lifelong musician on violin and guitar, he is aware of the nuances that are sought after by serious artists. In 2003, his large viola won first prize for tone - VMAAI. He continues to compete in international violin making competitions. Currently selling direct through his own Hill Violin Shop in Phoenix, OR and through Cavallo Violins in Omaha NE, as well as David Kerr Violin Shop in Portland, OR. He offers finely made, hand crafted Violins, Violas and Cellos. Also serving the Ashland, Medford, Jacksonville areas as a full service shop and dealer.
