ANNOUNCING: SWIFT N COUNTTM The Oregon Wood Worker(r) is first in bringing to its customers continuing product development and increased technology for its Handcrafted Yarn Swiftstm. With Swift N Counttm you can swift and also measure the yarn length at the same time. Swift N Counttm comes with two options of Built-in Yarn Counterstm. A mechanical and also an electronic counting system. This new addition allows yarn, thread and other fiber and material handlers to measure the yardage of their skein as they create a skein from a cone/ ball or other source. This will also allow you to measure the yarn yardage from extra yarn left over from projects so you can plan for the next project. It will also allow you to measure the yarn length from a skein to a pull-string yarn ball allowing you to divide skeins into measured length balls We guarantee accuracy within 1 yard, when instructions are followed. We have conducted extensive testing on this wonderful swift and on with many different yarn lengths and types. Your yarn will not be damaged, as with other counter, but will be gently handled. Your yarn will not be stretched, as with other counting devices, as the Mama Bear(tm) Swift N Count(tm) has the least tension of any swift made because of its Unique Turning System(tm). The Mechanical Built-in Countertm handles basic counting needs by swifting in both directions, but counting in a clockwise direction only. The Electronic Built-in Countertm handles all counting needs by swifting in both directions and counting in either direction without making any changes or adjustments, and is available now. Either Built-in Yarn Countertm device can be reset to zero each time you want to start measuring a new skein or distance. Both Built-in Yarn Counter(tm) models swift in both directions. The Built-in Yarn Countertm works for any weight of yarn or thread-there is no limitation on the size of yarn or thread. The yarn does not run through a measuring or counting device, that is restricted by yarn size and that could damage or clog with fibers. The Swift N Counttm Built-in Yarn Countertm comes in the Mama Beartm and Papa Bear models. Swift N Count(tm) swifts all come standard with the new longer arms on the Mama Beartm and Papa Beartm which have calibrated and labeled peg holes and velcro for holding your yarn end. The Electronic Built-in Yarn Counter comes with a very strong builtin lithium battery which will give many many years of carefree service. No electricity is needed nor replacement batteries. As the size of skeins increases or as you start working with larger skeins for yarn dyeing, spinning or weaving, longer arms are needed to your swift. Longer Arms Available For Mama Bear(tm): Available immediately are longer arms that will fit your existing Mama Bear(tm) Handcrafted Yarn Swift(tm) As yarn skeins become increasingly larger, the longer Mama Bear(tm) arms will become necessary. They are 30" in length; 3 " longer than your existing arms. They also have metered peg holes representing 1/2 yard, 1 yard, 1.5 yard, 1.75 yard, and 2.0 yard and other holes to handle skeins from 18" up to 80" (8" over 2 yards) in circumference. We have also added velcro hook to adhere your yarn end to, so it will not come loose when swifting. These new arms simply slip over your existing metal post of your Unique Turning System(tm) without any necessary alteration. Also included is a set of new longer pegs so that if you encounter wider skeins, the yarn will not go over the top of the pegs. The Oregon Wood Worker was created in 2002 to help meet the needs of knitters, spinners, yarn dyers, hand weavers and yarn enthusists. We are the original designers and handcrafters of the table top swifts. Our swifts will operate on any flat surface. From one idea, we developed the full family of Handcrafted Yarn Swifts: our smallest, the Baby Bear, the regular sized Mama Bear and the very large Papa Bear models. Each model is designed to meet the specific needs of our customers. The Mama Bear is the most frequently purchased, as it will handle any yarn skein purchased from a yarn shop. Our swifts are very easy to assemble and disassemble, taking only 4-5 seconds for the non-mechanical person. There are only four pieces plus 5 pegs in the entire swift. All parts just slide together. No tools or bolts, etc., to deal with. All of our swifts are made of beautiful selected solid hardwoods, sanded smooth multiple times and finished with several coats of a clear hard wood finish. We believe our swifts are the smoothest turning due to the Unique Turning System each one is made with. Each of our Handcrafted Yarn Swifts comes with its own nice cotton/poly bag. We also offer beautiful Pendleton Wool Bags in different colors, as an upgrade for your swift bag, at a small additional charge.
