About the Hypnotist
I hold a current teaching certification with the state of Oregon. I have a Masters degree in Organizational Management and over 20 years experience working with children and families in public and private education as both a teacher and principal. As the owner of Intuitive Hypnosis in Portland, Oregon I have expanded my ability to help others by utilizing hypnosis to assist people in empowering themselves to lose weight, stop smoking, reduce stress and anxiety, improve performance in sports, academics, and much more.
I am often asked how I became interested in hypnosis as a career. After more than 20 years in public and private education, as both an educator and administrator, it became clear to me that behavior modification was at the root of failure and/or success in almost every aspect of the lives of my students, their parents, my staff, and myself. Habit formation/elimination (the development of desired habits to replace undesired ones) seems to be the goal for almost everyone, whether they're trying to develop better study habits, increase motivation to go to the gym, get and stay organized, improve their golf game, stop repetitive negative thoughts, reduce stress and anxiety, get out of bed on time, accept the loss of a loved one, and so on. As my impending retirement from the world of education drew near, I was excited to contemplate the reality of having time to learn more about habit formation/elimination through the use of hypnosis.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the process of earning my certification as a consulting hypnotist, continuing my education in the field of hypnosis, and working in tandem with clients as the facilitator of beneficial life changes for them via hypnosis. Teaching about hypnosis, how it works, and how to utilize it in the daily lives of my clients has been, and continues to be, an extremely rewarding and fun process. As Intuitive Hypnosis continues to grow and grow, I continue to learn more and more about hypnosis, about working with people, and about the determination of the human spirit. It is a privilege to have clients put their trust in me to guide them through the process of change.
Intuitive Hypnosis has grown from a part time practice working one-on-one with clients to a full time client based organization with monthly seminars and in-depth group workshops. I opened the Portland School of Hypnosis in the spring of 2013 where I train other individuals to become consulting hypnotists as well. I also write HypnoBytes, a monthly article exploring the practical applications and benefits of hypnosis and hypnotherapy.
About Intuitive Hypnosis
After I had become certified as a consulting hypnotist and was ready to "go public" with my business, I asked a friend to help me brainstorm a list of business names. We had a lot of fun and came up with a lot of great ideas but nothing that really expressed how I feel about my ability to be an effective hypnotist. Then he asked me, "OK, there are lots of hypnotists out there. Why should I come to you instead of someone else?" My answer was "because I have an intuitive ability to know what people need. I don't follow a formula for treatment, I listen, I ask questions, and 'get' what they are saying to me, out loud, and in between the lines. Each session is designed specifically for each client."
Hence, the birth of Intuitive Hypnosis.I thoroughly enjoy working as a consulting hypnotist. I meet the most wonderful people every day and I love sharing the blessing of hypnosis with my clients. It's such an amazing way to create positive changes in your life, and yes, I use it on myself all the time!
