From the Heart of the Elders: Being Thankful for Everything Thanksgiving is that special time of the year when we remind ourselves of God's blessings and to thank Him for them. Like many people, I can tend to take my blessings for granted. Or worse, I even take personal credit for what I have. I don't come right out and say it, but my thanklessness demonstrates my true thinking. I deceive myself into thinking that I have what I have because I've worked hard for it, pulled the right strings or deserve it.
Children Are VIPs at Westside Westside Bible Fellowship places a high priority on ministering to our children. Sunday School classes are provided Sunday mornings at 11:00 for children ages two through high school and taught by trained and caring teachers. The goal of our Sunday School is to clearly and compassionately communicate God's Word and plan of salvation to each child and to teach biblical principles for daily living.
Free Online Bible Teaching We sometimes say "Bible is our middle name." That's because we believe the Bible is very relevant and authoritative for every situation that we may face in this life and the life to come. Because God's written Word is so important, we often read from it and teach it. One important time of Bible teaching happens at our Sunday morning Family Bible Hour. Free MP3 recordings of these messages are available on this website.
Why Are You Here? It starts simply. Usually a simple question. Why is this happening? Who am I? Why am I here? This is a safe place to ask. A place to search, ask, and listen. No order forms. No donations. No merchandise. Just things to read. Things to watch. People to listen. No specific starting point. We all start some place different. It's your journey. You choose where to start. Nothing Something Interest Basics Why Hope Now Next Our questions usually start with Nothing and end with Hope
PREP4Kids "PREP"is one of Westside's important ministries to children. It is offered to children in local schools so they will get to know the God of the Bible and receive a more well-rounded education. PREP meets at Westside every Wednesday afternoon from 1:10-2:10 pm during the school year. PREP stands for "Portland Released-Time Education." It is organized by PREP4Kids, a non-profit, non-denominational Christian outreach to children attending public schools in the greater-Portland area.
Care Groups Care Westside's Care Groups are small fellowship groups that gather in different homes on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. A Spanish language group meets at Westside on Sunday evenings. Care Groups are one of the core ministries of Westside because they provide unique opportunities to build close relationships and learn to minister in ways that are difficult in a larger group setting. They provide an important way for Westsiders to get to know and care for one another and to study God's Word and pray together.
Current Teaching Series: 1 and 2 Timothy The current teaching series in our Sunday morning Family Bible Hour is based on the two letters or epistles that the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy. Paul had left Timothy in the city of Ephesus to lead and teach a new fellowship of Christian believers. Timothy was relatively young and inexperienced and was facing many challenges, including opposition from teachers wannabes who were speaking out against God's truth and undermining the faith of people.
The Core: What We're Passionate About What is really important in the life of our church? What are our bottom-line goals? Where do our passions lie? These are questions that the Westside leadership has seriously considered before the Lord and His Word. As a result, we've identified of a set of core values -- the things that are really, really important to us as a local church. These core values are our biggest priorities and identify where were going as a church. We express these core values in the following statement:

Westside Bible Fellowship is made up of ordinary folks who believe that Jesus Christ is the all-sufficient Savior.
We're "Westside" because we meet west of Portland, Oregon in the Washington County city of Hillsboro.
"Bible" is our middle name. That's because we believe the Bible is relevant and authoritative for every situation we may face in this life and the life to come.
We're a "fellowship" because personal relationships are important to us, and we're learning to encourage and serve one another.
We're a work in progress. We're learning to love and follow Christ and share Him with others. We invite you to come learn with us.
Our vision is to be a Christ-centered, Biblically-based community of believers who are passionate about loving and worshipping Jesus Christ, loving and serving each other, living holy lives and reaching the world with the good news of the Gospel and doing all in humble dependence on Christ.
