The Sky IS Falling!

Northwest storms can turn trees dangerous
Trees should be inspected on a regular basis especially before and after storms. Larger trees have a greater hazard potential than smaller trees. A hazardous tree is a tree that has significant structural defects that are likely to lead to failure and possibly cause injury or damage.
Here are some of the signs that may indicate a hazard tree situation:

History— Construction and landscape activity can cause root damage.
Leaning — Look for a significant lean, cracked soil or exposed roots.
Multiple Trunks — Inspect for cracks or splits where the trunks meet.
Weakly Attached Branches — Look for cracks where branches attach to the trunk.
Cavities & Decay Pockets — Peeling bark, mushrooms, conks and hollow areas are warning signs.
Trunk & Branch Cracks — Large, deep cracks require careful evaluation.
Hangers — Broken branches still lodged in the tree should be removed.
Deadwood — Dead branches can cause injury or property damage when they fall.
