Green Phoenix Taiji Academy is a group of practitioners of Chen-style Xinyi Hunyuan Taijiquan (usually abbreviated Hunyuan Taiji) based in Eugene, Oregon under the instruction of Matthew Sieradski. We are affiliated with both the Taoist Studies Institute in Seattle, Washington and the Chen-style Xinyi Hunyuan Taijiquan Institute in Beijing, China.
Hunyuan Taiji is a modern system of Taiji and Qigong with ancient roots. It's benefits encompass the areas of health, spirituality, and martial arts. Hunyuan Taiji's emphasis is on nurturing as the means to cultivating both martial prowess and martial virtue. Our health and integrity are our greatest assets as human beings, and with this practice we seek to preserve both. The essence of this practice is to cultivate stillness to find the root of movement, and employ movement to nurture the return to stillness. In this way we harmonize with the principle that underlies all things.
We also offer a class on Bagua Zhang, a sister-art to Taiji Quan, for those interested in broadening their knowledge and experience in the internal martial arts.
