Explore the rustic charm of this original Oregon gold rush town - Historic Jacksonville. Nestled in the foothills of the ancient Siskiyou Mountains, stream gold was discovered in 1851 and almost immediately a tent city sprang up and was quickly followed by wood structures. Supplies, whiskey, gambling and fast women became the immediate economic boom. Most of the town was destroyed by a major fire, but was soon replaced by brick structures which are still standing.

Historic Jacksonville is one of the central attractions of southern Oregon and the home of the Britt Festivals which is nationally recognized as the Northwest's premier outdoor performing arts theatre. Jacksonville is a short distance from Ashland, which hosts the world famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival, as well as Crater Lake, the Oregon Caves, and the wild and scenic Rogue River. The natural scenic beauty of this area is outstanding.
The Stage Lodge is the only motel in Jacksonville and was designed using the original architecture familiar to historic stage stops along the stage route from Sacramento to Portland. Special touches include a 120 year old walnut tree, spacious grounds and quaint rooms with ceiling fans and armoires along with a continental breakfast.
